. let's get right to 7 news weather anchor spencer christian who is tracking the storm on radar for us tonight. >> here's live doppler 7 hd and rainfall quite steady up in the north bay throughout the day into the evening hours now shifting south to east through the central part of the bay area and there are wet spots out there which is giving you reason for caution. you can see a line of showers and rainfall. some light to moderate. maybe local heavy downpour through novato and sonoma out to vallejo and moving into san francisco. let's close in in marin county south to tiburon and down to the marina area of san francisco. we have got an area of pretty steady rain fall right now and we expect to it expand over the next couple hours and reach other parts of the bay area. this has been the pattern as we loop the radar over the last 3 hours. moving east and south than it had been doing early in the day. all of us will have wet areas by early morning. rainfall total past 24 hours over 4 inches in novato. inch in santa rosa. see most of it has been in the north bay. about to get a n
powerful storm arrives. i'm dan ashley. get ready for the next round of storms that could bring us rain everyday until sunday. sandhya patel is tracking it. she is here. >> the showers beginning to increase in the north bay on live doppler. we have our own radar and you can see light showers right around cloverdale, ukiah and 101. we have a stronger storm coming and it will be a slow moving system. this is the storm that will bring us heavy rain. we have a third system that is due in this weekend. i want to show you the second system first. the one that is going to affect us first thing tomorrow morning. at 5:00 a.m. the north bay and doesn't shift south very quickly. it will take its time. at 1:00 p.m. most of the focus of the light rainfall in the north bay. by evening things started to change. we started to pick up moisture across the coastline and more rain moves in bayh 5:00 p.m. tomorrow. when all is said and done the rainfall totals are impressive. i'll be back with the details on that. applause look what concerns we have is flooding, advisories and warnings. >> dan: this is what

night and more to come. let's get right to spencer with tracking all of it for us on radar tonight. >> it is indeed going to get stormy. in fact the north bay has seen a lot of stormy weather tonight. this is the way it looks right now and throughout the late afternoon and early evening hours most of the active weather has been pushing into the north bay. that's the area getting drenched writ now. you can see pockets of locally heavy rainfall in places like fort ross and north of santa rosa at bodega bay and up near sea ranch. all but moving into the north bibay but we see batch beginning to push towards the golden gate into san francisco but still most of it energy is going up to the marin county coast license there so mainly north bay event so far. over in the sierra lake tahoe pretty much rainfall down at lake level. snow levels are way up high around 8,000 feet. rainfall total over the last 24 hours growing now nearly half inch up in mount saint helena. third inch at santa rosa. third inch at san francisco and of course these total will grow because there will be more wri

killed in the south bay will be laid to rest today. matt keller joining us live with more on the service and the update on the investigation there to the case. >> reporter: yeah. i checked in with the san jose police department spokesperson for the update on this case. they are still search for a second suspect or at least that's what was happening all this week as they released a sketch on that expect now hee mailed me back and said per the homicide unit we aren't confirming or denying any new information. that came after i asked them if an arrest had been made. >> the man was shot and killed last week. one of the suspects a 26-year- old was in court wednesday. police say he and another man robbed four businesses, murdered a 22-year-old in a carjacking and participated in a shoot out with two officers one of the officers was hit and taken to the hospital with minor injuries. willbanks was arrested the next morning. officers released a sketch of the second suspect, a 20,000- dollar reward is being offered for his arrest. the funeral for the victim is being held this morning at 11. we wi

all the way out to the ocean. crews say they used a bleach mixture to disinfect the promenade before opening it. but the beach will be closed for up to a week. >> just so people don't come in contact with it or have their dogs in it. then we'll go ahead and do the water quality testing, which we do normally, to make sure the bacteria levels are low enough to reopen it. >> reporter: they are also taking data and investigating the pressure level and what caused the backup. crews posted signs today warning residents and surfers. some people said they were concerned about the contamination. >> because it's pollution and you can get sick from it. yeah, it does. as you see, there's nobody in the water. >> reporter: and we do have a live look now for you from news chopper 2 of the scene. they are cleaning up. they expect to get lab results back tomorrow that should indicate whether it's safe for people to go into the water. but, again, back here live, the great highway closed for about four blocks between balboa and fulton. reporting live, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> in san jose, police are lo

is in the north bay. stephanie will give us an inside look at caltrans' operation. and jeff ranieri is looking at the storm. >> we've been talking about it for days. now, it's starting to get its act together. let's put a track on this. you see the moisture tap from the pacific. and to the north. stretches almost 500 miles. also, out ahead of the strongest part of the storm, winds gusting from 15 to 40 miles per hour. the latest and most urgent watch in place is a flash-flood watch. it includes all of our bay area coastline, even san francisco, into marin, napa and is a gnome counties. until monday morning. and as for quick, rising water, that may occur on the streets as the rain starts to fall. again, up into napa, santa rosa, and down into san rafael. the biggest area of concern is in the north bay. san rafael to santa rosa, in the past six hours alone has picked up an inch of rain. and heavier rain over mill valley, right over the san anselmo creek, which is a sore spot when we get a lot of rain like that. we'll have details on what that creek looks like right now. and the russian river. an
